1. Overview

PDF Pixels is an Android application that provides PDF utility tools including compression, merging, splitting, conversion, watermarking, signing, and protection. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, by whom, and how it is used.

The short version: We do not collect, store, or transmit your files. All PDF and document processing happens entirely on your device. The only third-party data collection in the app comes from Google AdMob, which serves ads to keep the app free.


2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Your files, PDFs, documents, or images
  • Passwords you enter to protect or unlock PDFs
  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
  • Your location
  • Contacts or calendar data
  • Usage analytics or crash reports (beyond what Google Play collects automatically)

2.2 Data Collected by Third Parties

PDF Pixels uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google may collect the following data to serve relevant ads:

3. How Your Files Are Handled

All file processing in PDF Pixels is 100% on-device:

  • Files you select are read from your device's local storage
  • All PDF operations (compress, merge, split, convert, sign, watermark, etc.) are performed locally using on-device libraries
  • Processed output files are saved to a temporary cache directory on your device
  • The cache is automatically cleared each time the app is launched
  • No file content is ever uploaded to our servers or any third-party server

4. Permissions

PDF Pixels requests the following Android permissions:

We do not request microphone, camera, contacts, location, or any other sensitive permissions.


5. Advertising and Consent

PDF Pixels is free and supported by advertising through Google AdMob.

5.1 Personalised Ads

Where required by law (EU/EEA and certain US States), we request your consent before showing personalised ads. You can:

  • Review and update your ad preferences at any time via Settings → Ad Preferences inside the app
  • Opt out of personalised ads without affecting your use of the app

5.2 GDPR (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, we rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) as the legal basis for processing data for advertising purposes. You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data held about you
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict processing
  • Object to processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

5.3 US State Privacy Laws (CCPA / CPRA and others)

If you are a California resident or a resident of another US State with applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information is collected about you
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information
  • Delete your personal information
  • Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

We do not sell your personal information. Google AdMob may share data for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can opt out via Settings → Ad Preferences in the app, or by using the Google opt-out controls at https://adssettings.google.com.


6. Data Retention

  • Files and documents: Never stored by us. Temporary copies in the device cache are deleted on next app launch.
  • Ad-related data: Retained by Google per their data retention policy.

7. Children's Privacy

PDF Pixels is not directed at children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at pixelcountlabs@gmail.com and we will take appropriate action.


8. Security

Because all file processing occurs on your device and we do not transmit your files anywhere, the security of your documents depends on your device's security. We recommend:

  • Keeping your device OS and the app up to date
  • Using a screen lock on your device
  • Deleting sensitive processed files from your device when no longer needed

9. Third-Party Links

The app may contain links to external websites (e.g., Play Store, our website). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.


10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For significant changes, we will provide a more prominent notice.
